Reverend Charles L. King, Jr. - Pastor
“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered
me faithful, appointing me to his service.” (1 Timothy 1:12 NIV)
A native Ohioan, Charles L. King, Jr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the oldest of 3 children born to Charles and Paulette King, Sr. A graduate of Walnut Hills High School, he went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics with a minor in Business Law from Ohio University, Athens, OH, and Master of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary, Tacoma, WA.
He has been joyously married to Angela (Reid) King for 15 years, and they are the proud parents of two amazing children Adrianna and Charles King, III a.k.a. "Tre". He has worked as a regional claims manager for a local insurance company for the past 14 years, and has served as Pastor at the First Baptist Church West College Hill since accepting the call to the Pastorship on September 9, 2005.
He thrives on being a person who leads and motivates by the example of Christ. As a Pastor, he sees himself as one who should nurture and protect; as well as, spiritually direct and train those persons who have been entrusted to his care. He also sees his task as one who must seek, and communicate Christ to the spiritually lost in the community.
Pastor King is a member of Euclid Lodge #97, Cincinnati, Oh_P.H.F. & A.M. (Prince Hall Free & Accepted Mason), a member of the College Hill Ministerium, part of the North College Hill Mayoral Task Force committee, and currently serves as President of the Cincinnati/Dayton NAAIA (National African American Insurance Association) chapter. He is a graduate of the Health Leadership Institution for Faith Based Organizations. He served two years as an Executive Board member for the Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity, and was a Community Involvement award recipient from West College Hill. He was recognized in the “Who’s Who” registry of Executives and Professionals, and was one of four voted as Pastor of the Year by the Cincinnati Gospel Awards in 2008.
In these leadership roles, he works to create strategies to organize individuals for community action and encourage others to assume and carry out effective leadership to reflect the broad diversity of the neighborhoods and public at large. He constantly works to enhance his learning and service to God through the purchase of books, Bible software and various conferences and workshops; and while he continues to remain humbled by the idea of God’s calling him to become a Gospel preacher/teacher and now Pastor, he has dedicated his life as one living in the light of God’s blessings.
He strives to always be evangelistic in his preaching/teaching, while holding fast to Biblical truths and practical aspects of pulpit Ministry. He seeks to follow the wisdom of the scriptures as an effective leader striving to advance the Kingdom of God, and maintain a lifestyle that complements his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
