First Lady Angela King

“Blessed is she that believed, for there shall be a performance of those things told to her of the Lord.” (Luke 1:45)

A native Ohioan, Angela King was born in Dayton, Ohio and is the youngest and only daughter of 4 children born to the (late) Thomas Reid Sr. and (late) Minva Reid. She graduated from Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School, and then went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminology / Deviance from the University of Kentucky located in Lexington, Kentucky. She has been a licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio for many years and works full time as program supervisor at Lighthouse Youth Services, Inc. Lady King is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in social work administration from the University of Cincinnati.

In 1994, she joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized by her Pastor, Reverend Dr. Cecil Ferrell. She actively participated in several ministries to include new member’s class, women’s fellowship, Bible Study and the Senior / Adult Usher Board. She is a former student of St. Rita’s school for the blind and she participated with the Sign Language Ministry at St. Mark MBC as well.

In 1994, Lady King met her beloved husband, Pastor Charles L. King, Jr. and after a brief courtship, they married in 1995. Responding to the call of God in her and her husband’s life, she joined First Baptist Church West College Hill October 2005, under the Pastorate of her husband. She is the proud mother of two beautiful children: Adrianna (13) and Charles King, III “Tre” (11).

A Christian woman of virtue, poise, and grace, Lady King is known for her endless love and wisdom, which she pours unreservedly into the children, youth and young adults as the coordinator for the Children’s Church ministry and mentor / advisor for the Jr. Usher Board. She continues to write grants through First Book Corp. and coordinates free quarterly book fair events for the church and College Hill Community. Lady King also has a passion to help hurting women reach spiritual and emotional wholeness through discovery of their God-given purpose. She previously served as the Leadership Liaison for the Minister’s / Deacon’s wives and Women’s Fellowship ministry. She was certified through the Family Dynamics Institute as a marriage ministry facilitator in 2008 and through this ministry with her husband developed Season’s of the Heart, marriage and couple’s ministry. She is also a proud and active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter.

Lady King is a woman of true character, and she handles her obligation to serve in ministry alongside her husband with superb devotion. As the First Lady she takes her primary responsibilities as a Godly wife, mother, and help-mate seriously. Although she never expected to be called to such a high service, she comments: “God knows the future, and His plans for (us) are good and full of hope.

As long as our God who knows the future provides our agenda and goes with (us) as we fulfill His mission, we can have boundless hope and God in all of His greatness will see (us) through to a glorious end.”
